Masioclothe™ was orginally developed for transplanted Portuguese fisherman by a small mill in Westerly, Rhode Island, before the Civil War. It was known to be incredibly strong, but very soft... just like the Portuguese word means. It had a wonderful broken-in feel, not stiff or hard.

- Mascioclothe™ circa 1861 8.5-oz twill is 200% finer and a higher grade yarn than the 10.4-oz duck. It's 2x2 double ply construction, but the vertical (weft) yarn is 2x larger to provide the twill look and feel. the fabric is pre-washed making it extremely durable when compared to other twills, yet super soft.
